Join us as we kick off our new season with the incomparable voice of nationally recognized soprano Corey Lovelace, with our very own Sophia Pavlenko accompanying her. This evening highlights songs written about Mary, the mother of Jesus, through the ages. Spanning centuries of music, Corey and Sophia will take us on a musical journey of discovery that explores Christ through the eyes and heart of Mary. Critically acclaimed, this concert is a moving and intricate tribute to the mother of Jesus and the role of women in the church throughout time.

Written in 1742, Handel's Messiah is the single most-performed musical piece in history. Join us for one of North Carolina's best presentations of this magnificent masterwork this year. This performance will feature the TMA Orchestra and Chorus with soloists John Fowler, Heidi Kirschenheiter, Megan Potter, and Andrew Potter with Sophia Pavlenko on the world-renowned Clara Capel Memorial Pipe Organ. Come and celebrate all the drama of God's light entering the world and the salvation of all humankind set to some of the finest music ever written.
Saturday, February 17, 7:00 pm, Trinity United Methodist Church
Join us for an extraordinary concert featuring some of the greatest and most popular hits ever written for the stages of opera and Broadway. We have a spectacular evening planned featuring the studio of North Carolina's own John Fowler.
Mr. Fowler has had a long and distinguished career that has carried him onto every major opera stage in the world. He is commonly considered one of the finest tenors this country has ever produced.
Joining him is the newest generation of stars from the Carolinas, including the incredible Jeff Gwaltney and John Kanekleides - who both got their start here at TMA. Everyone is reuniting at TMA to perform with their favorite pianist, the incomparable Sophia Pavlenko. What a homecoming!
Saturday, April 27, 7:00 pm, Trinity United Methodist Church
Join us for a spectacular finale of this year's series with a special concert featuring the music of our very own Sophia Pavlenko. She first appeared here at the Academy on November 17, 2000, and has been our Composer in Residence ever since.
Based here in Troy, Sophia has composed music that has spread worldwide. She is recognized as one of the most prominent living composers in North Carolina, the United States, and Ukraine.
Musicians are coming from around the globe to perform here on this night. Expect members of the NC, Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Fayetteville orchestras. Our slated singers are from New York, Paris, Munich, Washington D.C., and all across North Carolina and the U.S.
